As per the latest custom data release, USA flat steel (7208 – HR coils/Plates,7209 – CR coils, 7210, 7212 GP/GC and 7225 electrical sheets) exports have witnessed a significant fall of 8% on monthly basis to 0.37 MnT in Oct’16.The same stood at 0.4 MnT in Sep‘16.
If Y-o-Y comparison is done, then the country’s flat steel exports moved down marginally by 3% against 0.38 MnT in Oct’15.
During the time span of Jan-Oct’2016, USA flat steel exports registered decline of 7.3% Y-o-Y to 3.8 MnT as compared to 4.1 MnT in the same time span of 2015.
Grade-wise flat steel exports from USA in Oct’16:
Out of total flat steel exports, 7208 exported 0.12 MnT in Oct’16, down 20% M-o-M against 0.15 MnT in last month.Whereas exports of 7209,7210,7212 remained stable from past two months. Although exports of grade 7225 registered a decline of 11% to 0.08 MnT as compared to Sep’16.

Major flat steel importers from USA in Oct’16:
Mexico is the largest buyer from USA and has shipped 0.17MnT of flat steel products, down by 11% M-o-M against Sep’16.Whereas Canada the second largest importer, shipped 0.16 MnT in Oct’16 against 0.18 MnT in previous month.
