Anthracite Coal import offers have consistently depicted a falling trend during Dec’16. The prices have been moving down as demand in international regions was getting lower.
The latest import offer for Anthracite Coal is assessed significantly lower at around USD 118/MT CFR India. The import offer has declined by USD 10/MT than that in the week last.

In the meantime, demand in India has continued to remain sluggish, with no improvement expected in the long term.
Recently, it was heard that the Ukraine government has decided to cut dependence on Anthracite Coal by 30%. The government is stressing upon conversion of most of the coal-based power plants there into gas-based to lower usage of Anthracite Coal.
During the first three weeks of Dec’16, no import had landed at any Indian port, as there was no affinity for importing the fuel among buyers in the country.
