Exports by the world’s largest manganese ore producer, South Africa, decreased by 4.1% to 1.95 mnt in Jul’21 as against 1.87 mnt in Jun.
- The marginal fall is due to low buying interest from China and Japan due to higher manganese ore prices.
- However, India’s and South Korea’s imports surged by 148% and 168% respectively, m-o-m, in Jul owing to elevated prices of manganese alloys.
South Africa’s manganese ore exports were up by 21.8%, y-o-y, in Jan-Jul’21.
