Japan: Tokyo Steel Further Raise Scrap Buying Prices by Yen 1000/MT (USD 9)

Japan’s leading steel producer Tokyo Steel Manufacturing, has increased its buying prices for all grades of ferrous scrap delivered to all its works by almost Yen 1000/MT (USD 9/MT) effective from 18 Aug’17.Prior to this the company had increased its buying prices for all grades of ferrous scrap delivered to all its works by Yen 2000/MT effective from 10 Aug’17.

The company is Japan’s largest producer of H-Beams and top electric-arc steel mill. Its production also devoted to sheet piles, jumbo H-beams, and a variety of flat-steel products. (Hot coils, pickled and oiled coils, galvanised coils, heavy steel plates, etc.).

The increase takes Tokyo Steel’s price for H2 grade material delivered to its Utsunomiya works in north of Tokyo to Yen 31,000/MT (USD 283.5 /MT).

H2 delivered to its Tahara works in central Japan and to its Okayama works in western Japan now fetches Yen 31,000/MT and Yen 28,500/MT, while that delivered to its Kyushu works in Japan will now be priced at Yen 28,500/MT.

Japan’s monthly ferrous scrap export tender fetched bids higher by USD 33 /MT M-o-M – 

Kanto Tetsugen has marked highest price hike since in Oct’14. In the tender concluded on 9 Aug’17 the winning bid price averaged at Japanese Yen 31,606 FAS for 15,000 MT H2 grade ferrous scrap. The auction attracted 28 bids for a total quantity of 231,000 MT . The parcels were most likely to be shipped for Vietnam, according to sources.
