India: Vedanta to Export 20,000 MT Pig Iron

Indian pig iron exports continue to gain momentum on rising scrap prices in global market. Global scrap prices have gone up by USD 5-10/MT on lack of Chinese billet supplies.

A bulk vessel (MV Lord Nelson) of 20,000 MT has been recorded at Mormugao port (India’s west coast) which is at anchored position, expected to get berth on 22 Aug’16.

According to sources, cargo belongs to Vedanta (earlier know as Sesa Goa) and will be shipped to Thailand. This is the second export cargo by Vedanta in 2016. In July 2016, company had exported 20,000 MT to Bangladesh.

There is another vessel (MV Uni Challenge ) of 15,750 MT which is scheduled to depart from Paradip port (India west coast), vessel berthing expected today. Cargo belongs to MMTC and deal was closed in June/July through tender on FoB 240 USD/MT.
