India: SAIL floats Tender for HC Ferro Chrome Purchase

Durgapur Steel Plant (DSP) has floated global tender for purchase of 16,850 MT HC Ferro chrome from indigenous/overseas manufacturers or importers.

Durgapur Steel Plant (DSP), a unit of Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL), has intended to procure 16,850 MT HC Ferro chrome through this global tender. The company has invited domestic/overseas HC Ferro chrome manufacturers or importers for supply of the material. The company is willing to purchase the material for a period of 6 months starting Feb’15 to Jul’15.

The company has been trying to reduce the overall cost of its purchase. For this, SAIL has proposed few changes in the procurement process of HC Ferro chrome such as addition of overseas suppliers with domestic ones as well as suppliers can bid for specific quantities.

Mode of Dispatch

• Domestic supplier: By road in full truck-loads, fully covered on freight pre-paid and door delivery basis
• International suppliers: By ship in end opening container each load of approx 20 MT

Quotations to be submitted

Domestic quotations: Indigenous manufacturers/importers should submit their quotations with their ex-work prices in INR. However, order will be released on FoR respective plant basis.

International quotations: Overseas manufacturers should submit their quotations on CFR basis providing break up of FoB price and Ocean freight from the respective loading port. For ASP, DSP, BSL plants the FoB price should be quoted on Kolkata Port basis, for BSP the prices should be quoted on Nhava Sheva Port basis, for SSP and VISP, the FoB price should be quoted on Chennai Port basis.
