State-owned Steel Authority of India Ltd (SAIL) conducted an auction today for 4,000 t (60 kg) of full-length commercial rails from the Bhilai Steel Plant (BSP). The base price was set at INR 57,000/t, but buyers showed no interest and the auction closed without a single bid being placed. At the previous auction, 6,000 t of similar grade material had been booked at INR 55,700/t exw.
