The government has decided to commence the fifth tranche of auctions under commercial coal mining on 30 Mar’22. For this round, a total of 109 coal blocks have been offered comprising new as well as rolled-over blocks which were left unsold in the previous tranches. That apart, a separate auction process under the second attempt of sale would be carried out for blocks that had received just a single bid in the first attempt.
