India: NMDC-CMDC joint venture gets LoI for new Bailadila deposit

The Chhattisgarh government’s Mineral Resource Department has issued a letter of intent (LoI) on 26 Jun’21 for Bailadila Iron Ore Mine, Deposit-4 in the Bastar region of Dantewada district in favour of NMDC-CMDC – a joint venture company between India’s leading iron ore miner NMDC and the Chhattisgarh Mineral Development Corporation (CMDC), as per reports. Located on the western flank of the Bailadila hills, the big and homogeneous iron ore deposit has reserves of approximately 107 mn t with an average grade of Fe of 65.39%. On 30 Sept’19, the Union Ministry of Mines had granted prior approval for reservation of Deposit-4 spanning 646.596 ha.
