China’s Baowu Steel Group has signed a deal with US tech and manufacturing giant Honeywell for a hydrogen purification technology, as per latest reports. Honeywell is planning to build a high-purity hydrogen station for Shanghai Baosteel Gases, a subsidiary of Baowu, one of China’s largest state-owned steelmakers. The station will have an hourly capacity of 6,000 standard cubic metres. Baowu plans to use the hydrogen products in its non-oriented silicon steel production and in its vehicle hydrogen stations. The deal comes as Chinese steelmakers are making efforts to decarbonise to help China achieve its carbon neutrality target by 2060.
