The government is working on developing the country’s eastern region into a ‘green’ steel manufacturing hub under Mission Purvodaya, Steel Minister Dharmendra Pradhan announced recently. The minister emphasised on the government’s efforts to boost infrastructure in the region, including inland waterways, thereby bringing it at par with other developed regions of the country. It deserves mention that the Union Steel Ministry has long been focusing on tapping the mineral wealth of the country’s eastern region in propelling the fortunes of the steel industry.
