India: ERW patra pipe prices show mixed trends w-o-w across key regions

  • Monsoon-driven weak demand likely to keep Raipur prices under pressure
  • Power cut-led disruptions likely to limit sharp downside in Mandi prices

ERW patra pipe prices (41-60 mm OD) showed mixed trends w-o-w across key markets in the week ended 17 July 2026. While prices in Raipur remained stable w-o-w, those in Mandi Gobindgarh moved higher.

A similar trend was observed on a d-o-d basis. In Raipur, prices remained stable d-o-d at INR 44,400/t Ex-works (Exw) on 17 July. In contrast, prices in Mandi Gobindgarh increased by INR 700/t d-o-d to INR 47,400/t Exw on 17 July from INR 46,700/t Exw a day earlier. Listed prices are Ex-works and exclude 18% GST.

Weekly price trends

Raipur: ERW patra pipe prices in Raipur remained unchanged w-o-w at around INR 44,400/t Exw on 17 July. Weak demand continued to constrain market activity, with buyers limiting purchases to immediate requirements. However, relatively firmer raw material prices, particularly billet, provided some cost support, limiting the scope for any price correction despite subdued demand conditions.

A Raipur-based manufacturer indicated, “The onset of the rainy season has kept market sentiment subdued, with fresh enquiries and order inflows remaining limited. Buyers continue to adopt a wait-and-watch approach in anticipation of lower prices as the seasonal slowdown continues to weigh on demand. With booking activity expected to remain muted, prices are likely to stay under pressure in the coming days.”

Mandi Gobindgarh: ERW patra pipe prices in Mandi Gobindgarh rose by INR 900/t w-o-w to INR 47,400/t exw on 17 July from INR 46,500/t a week earlier. Trading activity remained largely need-based for most of the week. However, manufacturers raised offers towards the weekend as scheduled power cuts from 18 July, with electricity supply being prioritised for agricultural use, are likely to disrupt production and further tighten supply in an already constrained market. Expectations of lower output supported the w-o-w price increase despite the absence of any meaningful improvement in demand.

A Mandi Gobindgarh-based manufacturer said, “Supply availability was already tight across certain sizes, and the scheduled power cuts from 9:00 pm to 7:00 am are expected to further constrain production in the coming days. While the resulting supply-side pressure is likely to keep prices supported and limit any sharp downside, the scope for any significant increase also remains limited as the seasonal slowdown continues to weigh on market activity.”

Raw material prices

HR strip (patra): HR strip (patra) prices in Raipur remained stable w-o-w at around INR 43,600/t exw on 17 July. In contrast, patra prices in Mandi Gobindgarh increased by INR 700/t w-o-w to INR 46,400/t exw on 17 July from INR 45,500/t a week earlier.

Billet: Billet prices in Raipur inched up by INR 200/t w-o-w to INR 37,800/t exw on 17 July from INR 37,600/t a week earlier. In contrast, billet prices in Mandi Gobindgarh remained stable w-o-w at INR 42,000/t DAP on 17 July.

Outlook

ERW patra pipe prices are expected to remain under pressure in the coming week, with contrasting demand and supply dynamics shaping regional price trends. In Raipur, persistent monsoon-led demand weakness is likely to keep enquiries and booking activity subdued, reducing the likelihood of any price recovery.

In Mandi Gobindgarh, scheduled power cuts are expected to marginally tighten supply. However, the ongoing seasonal slowdown is likely to keep purchases largely need-based, limiting the scope for any meaningful upside. As a result, prices are expected to remain broadly stable to weak, with tighter supply preventing any sharp decline in prices.
