India: Domestic Iron Ore Prices for Jan’17

Odisha: Merchant iron ore miners in Odisha for Jan’17 increased iron ore prices amid price improvement in sponge iron & finished steel. Lump prices increased up to INR 300/MT and fines prices up to INR 150/MT.

Chhattisgarh – The miner has raised iron ore prices for Jan’17 deliveries. Baila lump, fines and ROM moved up by INR 125/MT and DR-CLO by INR 140/MT. Hike in global iron ore prices (up by USD 7/MT M-o-M in Dec’16) and increase in domestic finished steel prices led to  increase in iron ore prices.

Goa: No iron ore e-auction has been conducted so far in this month. Last (18th) e-auction was held on 22 Nov’16. Base prices remained unchanged at INR 500/MT for all material type across all grades. Lots containing higher Fe content fetched higher bids.

Karnataka: NMDC lifted iron ore base prices in Jan’17 Karnataka e-auctions by about INR 100-140/MT M-o-M. Base prices of lump (Fe 62.2%) offered by NMDC Donimalai mines stood at INR 2,397/MT and fines (Fe 60.2%) at INR 2,083/MT. Base prices for NMDC Kumaraswamy mines are currently as follows: fines (Fe 59.5%) stood at INR 1,805/MT and lump (Fe 62.1%) stood at INR 1,935/MT.

Talking about private miners, base price of lump (Fe 56.4%) offered by B.Rudra Gouda stood at INR 1,530/MT (basic).
