Hearing on Anti-Dumping Investigation on Imports of HRC/CRC – Update

Indian government imposed provisional anti-dumping duty on imports of HRC/CRC originating from China PR, Japan, Russia, Korea RP, Brazil and Indonesia in Aug’16 for a period of six months. The duty will expire in Feb’17.

On 29 Sept’16, DGAD (Director General of Anti-Dumping & Allied Duties) notified all the interested parties for the oral hearing on anti-dumping duty investigations which was scheduled to take place on 13 Oct’16. The 2nd hearing for the same was scheduled to take place on 30 Dec’16 which was later postponed to 10 Jan’17. On the basis of this meeting, the govt. was to decide whether anti-dumping duty will be made permanent or not.

According to market sources report to SteelMint, the oral hearing was conducted yesterday and another meeting for the same has been scheduled towards the end of Jan’17.

However Indian steel makers are optimistic that the Anti-Dumping duty will become permanent for five years and there are chances that the limit of Non-Injurious Price (NIP) will also be raised.
