Indian chrome ore dispatches came down by 17% m-o-m in Nov ’20 as ferro chrome producers curbed buying due to the prolonged down trending prices of ferro chrome. OMC remained the largest supplier of chrome ore with 65,254 t dispatched in volume, which is down by 11% m-o-m.
Major Receivers:
Jindal Stainless, IMFA, and FACOR were the three major receivers in Nov ’20.
Prices of chrome ore in November were approximately down by INR 2000/t than the October prices. However, the prices were still deemed to be on the higher side according to the ferro chrome producers. Currently, only captive miners like IMFA and FACOR can get chrome ore at low prices and hence have gained a competitive advantage against the smelters with no source of captive ore.
