- Butene-1, HPG units targeted for FY’27 commissioning
- Expansion aims to reduce external feedstock dependence
Brahmaputra Cracker and Polymer Limited (BCPL) is progressing with brownfield projects worth ₹817.92 crore at its Lepetkata petrochemical complex in Assam, including a 10 KTPA Butene-1 unit and a 54 KTPA second-stage hydrogenation of pyrolysis gasoline facility.
The projects are targeted for commissioning in FY’27 and are aimed at reducing external feedstock dependence while increasing value addition from the complex, according to BCPL officials on 25 September.
Operations remain above rated capacity
BCPL operated at 106% capacity utilisation in FY’26, with average utilisation remaining above 100% over the past five financial years despite supply and logistics constraints.
The company reported a net profit of ₹117.67 crore in FY’26, while net worth stood at ₹3,138.28 crore.
BCPL markets its polymers through GAIL’s network of 35 consignment stockists. The Northeast accounts for around 16% of its polymer output, while the company also supplies markets across eastern and northern India and exports to Bangladesh and Bhutan.
Expansion supports product integration
The Butene-1 unit is expected to reduce BCPL’s reliance on external supplies, while the HPG facility will support production of higher-value fuel blending products.
BCPL is also implementing a phased Net Zero roadmap alongside the expansion programme.
The projects are expected to strengthen feedstock integration and product diversification at the existing complex as the company maintains high utilisation levels.
