Coal stockpiles at China’s major power utilities have risen by 44% y-o-y to 170 mnt on 26 Jan’22, sufficient for 22 days. As per NDRC, daily coal consumption at utilities has fallen by 9% w-o-w ahead of the New Year holidays. Supplies in the northern ports, however, remain weak as some small mines have shut down in Shaanxi.
