BigMint’s billet index increased marginally by INR 200/t day-on-day to INR 41,900/t exw-Raipur. The conversion spread from pellet-based sponge iron (PDRI) to billets for standalone induction furnaces in Raipur was assessed at around INR 15,250/t.
Indian sponge iron prices displayed a mixed trend across regions. Prices increased by up to INR 400/t in the Chennai market, while the Jharsugda region witnessed a decline of up to INR 400/t. Prices in Raipur were largely stable. Trade volumes recorded at around 19,800 t.
BigMint’s domestic end-cutting scrap index, tracking the Mandi Gobindgarh market, increased by INR 400/tonne (t) d-o-d to INR 38,100/t DAP.
