Baltic capesize index gains traction with soaring Chinese imports

The Baltic Exchange’s main sea freight index edged up on July 17 with the Baltic capesize index rising 30 points to 2,971 and the overall dry index rising 3 points to 1,699. Average daily earnings for the capesize segment rose $252 to $24,639 amid soaring iron ore demand from China and rising shipments from miners.
