Australia’s main coal rail line shuts due to rains, likely to reopen in next 48 hours

The main railway line carrying coal to Australia’s Newcastle port was closed late on 5 July due to heavy rains. It is expected to reopen within the next 48 hours, the Australian railway operator said. The closure not only affects the supply of coal to Newcastle, but also the power station, which currently requires rail transport, as normal supplies to mines near the power station have been disrupted.
