As per the recent data published by World Steel Association, crude steel production of 66 steel producing countries worldwide fell by 1% from 138.83 MnT in Mar’15 to 137.32 MNT in Mar’16.
While China’s crude steel output increased by 2.9% from 60.66 MnT in Mar’15 to 70.65 MnT in Mar’16, India’s production increased by 3.4% from 7.80 MnT in Mar’15 to 8.06 MnT in Mar’16.
Analyzing first quarter (Jan-Mar) data, crude steel production of 66 countries plunged by 3.6% in current year against previous year. The same stood at 400.27 MnT in 2015 and at 385.67 MnT in 2016.
While China’s crude steel production fell by 3.2% during the first quarter from 198.35 MnT in 2015 to 192.01 MnT in 2016, India’s production during the same period increased by 1.8% from 22.50 MnT in 2015 to 22.91 MnT in 2016.
In case of CIS countries, its crude steel production fell by 0.4% in first quarter of 2016 against corresponding period of previous year.
