World crude steel production rises 5% y-o-y on increased capacity utilization

Crude steel output of 64 major steel-producing nations has increased by 5% to 162.90 mn t in Jan ’21 against 155.44 mn t in Jan ’20, as per the data released by World Steel Organization. Ramp-up of production capacities on recovering demand and increasing economic activities across the globe led to this surge in production volumes. In Jan ’21, China’s production stood at 90.20 mn t followed by India at 10.00 mn t and Japan at 7.9 mn t.
