Vietnamese steelmaker Hoa Sen Group has abandoned a $10 bn blast furnace facility – with rated capacity of 16 mn t a year – due to a glut of cheap Chinese steel in the market. Chinese imports are flooding South East Asia, as China looks to cut overcapacity at home and dodge the effects of the ongoing trade war with the US.
