USA’s Monthly Coal Export Rise Marginally in Sep’16

USA’s monthly coal export up by 1% in Sep’16 compared to last month. While, witnessed a yearly fall of 6% during the month, compared to Sep’15.

USA, world’s fourth largest coal exporter, shipped about 7.7 MMst coal in Sep’16 with a marginal growth of 1% compared to last month. Country’s coal export noted a fall of 6% compared to Sep’15.

Out of the total monthly exported quantity, more than 90% coal comprises Bituminous and Pet coke and rest are Anthracite, Coke and other grades.

USA coal export in 2016
In the first eight month of the year, the country exported 68.4 MMst coal with a fall of 15%, which was 80.44 MMst in the same consecutive period last year.

Country-wise coal export in Sep’16
Netherland imported the largest coal quantity during the month, followed by India and Mexico as the 2nd and 3rd largest importers in Sep’16.

Netherland is one of the largest buyers of US grade coal took about 1 MMst coal in Sep’16; up by 97% compared to last month. Since the begging of 2016, first time the country had imported huge quantity in Sep’16. While, yearly import rose by more than 6%, which was at 0.9 MMst in Sep’15.

India, the second-largest coal importer during the month, imported about 0.9 MMst coal in Sep’16, with a growth of 15%, compared to 0.8 MMst in Jul’16. The nation’s yearly import recorded significant growth by 96% from Sep’15.

Mexico, the third-largest importer of USA coal in Sep’16, imported about 0.8 MMst coal during the month. The country’s import rose by 58% in Sep’16. While, import moved up by 48% Y-o-Y.
