According to USA customs data, USA flat steel imports which includes (7208 – HR coils/Plates,7209 – CR coils, 7210, 7212 GP/GC and 7225 electrical sheets) plunged by 15%, on monthly basis to 0.82 MnT in Feb’17 as compared to 0.97 MnT in Jan’17.
On yearly basis, nation’s flat steel imports fall drastically by 10% in Feb’17 against Feb’16.In Feb’16 the same stood at 0.91MnT.
However,nation’s flat steel imports slumped significantly by 15% in 2016 to 11.84 MnT as compared to 13.91 MnT in 2015.
Grade-Wise USA Flat Steel Imports in Feb’17
If grade-wise analysis is made, then 7210 imports have been decline by 13.16% in Feb’17 against Jan’17 whereas grade 7209 and 7212 witnessed the growth in Feb’17 against previous month. Although, other flat steel grades imports like 7225 and 7208 seen falling in Feb’17.

Country-wise USA Flat Steel Imports in Feb’17
Canada was the major flat steel exporter to USA and shipped 2,31,184 MT in Feb’17 against 2,90,613 MT in Jan’17.Other major countries include Taiwan,Vietnam followed by Korea and Mexico.
