According to USA customs data, USA flat steel imports which includes (7208 HR coils/Plates,7209 CR coils, 7210, 7212 GP/GC and 7225 electrical sheets) move down by 10%, on monthly basis to 1.05 MnT in Aug’17 as compared to 1.16 MnT in Jul’17.
On yearly basis, nation’s flat steel imports continued to remain stable at the levels of 1.06 MnT.
In the tenure of (Jan-Aug) CY17 country’s flat steel imports assessed at 8.16 MnT,down by 4% as compared to 7.83 MnT in similar time-frame of previous year.

Canada was the major flat steel exporter of USA in Jan-Aug’17-
Canada has exported 2.13 MnT of flat steel in during the time period of Jan-Aug’17.It has occupied the largest share of 26.12 % in first eight months of CY17.Other countries include South Korea which occupied share of 9.6 % ,Mexico with 6.59%, followed by Turkey and Taiwan at 6.56% share respectively .
However on monthly basis Canada exported 0.29 MnT of flat steel to USA in Aug’17 higher by 16% against 0.25 MnT in Jul’17.In Aug’17 other flat steel exporting countries to USA included South Korea,Turkey,Taiwan, Mexico and Japan.
