Taiwan: Ferrous Scrap Imports Down 10% M-o-M in Aug’17

As per recent customs data maintained with SteelMint, Taiwan one of the prime scrap importer has witnessed fall in its scrap imports by 10% M-o-M in Aug’17 against Imports in Jul’17.Taiwan Imported 0.27 MnT ferrous scrap in Aug’17 as the imports were 0.30 MnT in Jul’17.

Taiwan has registered the decline of 16% Y-o-Y in its ferrous scrap imports. The country has imported 0.27 MnT ferrous scrap in Aug’17 against that of 0.32 MnT imports in Aug’16.

During first eight month’s period of CY17, ferrous scrap imports to Taiwan summed up to 1.96 MnT which has shown marginal fall by 5% Y-o-Y against the 2.07 MnT imports during the same period of CY16.

United States remained the top ferrous scrap supplier to Taiwan –

United States exported highest 0.09 MnT ferrous scrap to Taiwan in Aug’17 followed by Japan which has supplied 0.03 MnT in Aug’17 showing fall of 63% M-o-M against the 0.08 MnT ferrous scrap exports in Jul’17.

China exported 0.07 MnT ferrous scrap to Taiwan in Aug’17 which has raised significantly against nil ferrous scrap exports in Aug’16.Hong Kong exported 0.02 MnT ferrous scrap in Aug’17 to Taiwan.

Other major scrap exporters to Taiwan were Australia, Dominican Republic, Canada, Philippines and South Korea each with 0.01MnT exports in Aug’17.

During first eight months in CY17, United States exported highest 0.84 MnT ferrous scrap to Taiwan followed by Japan (0.33 MnT), China (0.22 MnT) and Australia (0.09).China hiked ferrous scrap by eleven folds while Japan almost halved it against same time frame of last year.
