US is the 2ndlargest exporter of ferrous scrap. Country has seen an upward movement in its scrap export M-o-M by 30% exporting 1,227,017 MT in Feb’17 and 943,858 MT in Jan’17.
The market after being low globally in Jan’17 has started to recover and is moving towards a positive altitude. The largest importer of US scrap in Feb’17 was Turkey imported 355,516 MT. Turkey saw 3 times increase in import from US as the country imported 82,017 MT in Jan’17 after a huge dip from importing 298,576 MT in Dec’16.
US largely exported scrap through Los Angeles, CA port exporting 222,946 MT in Feb’17. Showing an increase in port export too by 33% as it exported 167,644 MT in Jan’17 followed by New York City, NY port and San Francisco, CA ports.
As the buyers are returning to the market the exports from the US seems to be moving upwards in the coming months.
