Indian iron ore exports have seen fourfold increase in FY17. India has exported 24.35 MnT material in FY17 compared with 6.04 MnT in FY16 which is 303% higher Y-o-Y with 18.31 MnT additional amount of concentrate.
In Mar’17, iron ore exports were recorded at 4.08 MnT against 3.27 MnT in Feb’17 with 25% increase whereas when compared with numbers for the month of Mar’16, exports have increased by 140% Y-o-Y for the month as the material exported then was at 1.70 MnT.
In a recent period a substantial increase has been observed in iron ore exports from Odisha Miners.
Exports from Odisha were registered at 5.16 MnT (from Paradip & Dhamra Port) against 0.08 MnT in FY’16, the 65 times more quantity than a year ago. For the month of Mar’17, exports from Odisha were registered at 0.89 MnT (from Paradip & Dhamra Port) which was only 0.91 MT in Feb’17.
In FY’17, exports from Goa were registered 278% higher at 14.56 MnT against 3.86 MnT in FY’16. In Mar’17, exports from Goa were registered 45% higher at 2.42 MnT against 1.67 MnT in Feb’17.
Global average iron ore prices for the FY-17 were USD 67.12/MT (Fe62%) CNF China over USD 51.67/MT (Fe62%) CNF China previous year. Yearly average spot iron ore fines prices in China increased by about USD 15/MT Y-o-Y in FY17.
Country-wise Export: China have been the top destination for Indian iron ore export for FY-17 as it was in previous fiscal with 20.05 MnT material for the period against 4.70 MnT last fiscal with a huge jump of 326% Y-o-Y with a massive share of 83% of total material exported from the country from Apr to Mar 17.
Among others Japan, South Korea, Malaysia and Philippines were the country where India exported iron ore in FY-17.
Port-wise Export: Mormugao have been the largest port to export the iron ore from India with 14.56 MnT material in FY-17 against 3.86 MnT in previous fiscal with 278% increase this year.
Shipper-wise Export: Vedanta remained the top company with the export of 7.32 MnT iron ore in FY-17 followed by Fomento Resources with 3.77 MnT material for the fiscal.
