- Firmer US export sentiment supports shredded scrap prices
- Higher Turkish bookings provide support to US export prices
The RMDAS ferrous scrap index recorded a mixed trend on 21 September 2026 compared with 21 August. Shredded scrap prices increased marginally by $1/t to $419/t, supported by firmer export-market sentiment and higher US East Coast scrap sales. Recent Turkish bookings reached $390-400/t CFR, while sellers expect further gains, with $405/t seen as achievable.
The prompt industrial composite scrap index also edged up by $1/t to $472/t, reflecting firmer industrial scrap sentiment. However, HMS prices declined by $2/t to $364/t, indicating some divergence across grades. Overall, stronger export demand and rising East Coast prices provided support.
