Ukraine-based Metinvest has decided to suspend three of its iron ore mining and processing units due to logistical issues, higher production costs, and lower steel prices. Operations at two mining plants – Ingulets GOK and Southern GOK – will be suspended from 1 July’22 while the third one – Northern GOK – will stop working from mid-July.
In addition, Kamet Steel will also suspend one blast furnace from 1 July and continue operating with one remaining blast furnace.
