Nippon Steel has completed repairing its third blast furnace (BF) at the Nagoya works. An investment of JPY 49 billion ($360 million) was made for the repair works and the volume of the furnace has subsequently increased by 3% to 4,425 cubic metres. Nippon Steel has decided to postpone the restart of the BF due to weak steel demand recovery and is mulling resuming operations based on demand-supply outlook.
