Ukraine has banned coking coal exports to prevent thermal coal exports in the name of the former ahead of winter. The aim is to ensure sufficient thermal coal to the power sector and prevent manipulation, as it fears the material could be exported under the guise of coking coal. Ukraine banned thermal coal and fuel oils exports since June 2022.
