U.S. Pig iron Imports Rise in Mar’18

United States has imported about 0.43 MnT Pig iron in March 2018, the fresh released data by US custom showed.

The imports by the nation recorded a surge of 5% M-o-M against 0.41 MnT in Feb’18. During Mar’18, Russia has exported approximately 56% Pig Iron (0.24 MnT) to the nation. While Pig iron imports remained nearly stable in Mar’18 on Y-o-Y basis as against 0.43 MnT in Mar’17

In CY18 (Jan-Mar), the nation has imported about 1.33 MnT Pig Iron; surge by 20.90% as compared to 1.10 MnT in the same preceding last year. Russia, Ukraine & Brazil was the major Pig Iron exporter to United States which exported about 0.69 MnT (52.11%), 0.38 MnT (28.81%) & 0.16 MnT (12.15%), respectively.

As per the SteelMint analysis, in the month of Mar’18, the crude steel production of United States was around 7.26 MnT, incline by 12.55% M-o-M against 6.45 MnT in Feb’18 and in CY18(Jan-Mar) it was approximately 20.53 MnT, surge by 1.50% against 20.23 MnT in CY17 (Jan-Mar)

Presently, the export offers of basic grade Pig Iron are assessed at USD 375-390/MT FoB Russia, USD 390-395/MT FoB Brazil & USD 360-365/MT FoB India.
