China – Crude Steel Output Increases 5% in Jan-Apr’18

China – world’s largest steel producer has registered the growth of about 4% in Apr’18 against previous month.In Apr’18 nation produced 76.70 MnT of crude steel in comparison to 73.98 MnT in Mar’18.

Meanwhile on yearly basis country’s crude steel output in Apr’18 jumped by 5% against 72.77 MnT in corresponding month of previous year.

During first four months of CY18 (Jan-Apr) China produced 287.48 MnT of crude steel,higher by 5.2% against 273.53 MnT in Jan-Apr’17.

Higher profits along with positive demand outlook lead to rise in crude steel output-Increased prices in nation’s domestic market over strong futures along with optimistic demand have resulted in increased crude steel production in China.

Meanwhile,post winter production cuts steel mills have resumed their operations on normal basis.This also resulted in increased crude steel output. As per reports, the official heating season ended on 15 Mar’18, although major steel-making hub Handan extended a 50% output capacity curb until the end of March.

Monthly Average Domestic HRC prices in China edged up in Apr’18– On monthly average basis domestic HRC prices in Apr’18 prices stood at RMB 3,968/MT, marginally up against RMB 3,923/MT (ex-works, including 17% VAT) in Mar’18.
