Turkish Pig iron imports in January lowest since May 2011

Turkey imported a total of 59,921 tons of Pig iron in January this year in comparison to 149,563 tons in December and 175,148 tons in January 2012.

It is the lowest volume imported since May 2011.

In January 2013, Ukraine exported 26,900 metric tons i.e. 77% less MoM and imports from Russia totaled 26,152 metric tons i.e. up by 4.8% MoM.

South Africa, Georgia and Canada also contributed to exports.

Imports in January 2013 were made at an average import price of $397/MT, which was standing at $468/MT in January 2012.

And total value, in comparison to January 2012 was low by 71% to $23.8 million.

In 2012, Turkey imported 1.4 MnT of Pig iron. It was the highest historical annual level and 21% more of what was imported in 2011.
