According to the recent released data by Turkey’s custom, Pig iron Imports in Turkey moved up by 56% M-o-M in Sep’17 & 78% Q-o-Q in Q2 FY18, and imported the highest volume of pig iron in Sep’17 since Jan’17.
As per the customs, the nation has imported about 140,000 MT Pig iron in September 2017 against 90,000 MT in August 2017, surge by 55.55 % M-o-M, which is consecutively similar since June’17 to Aug’17.
On yearly basis in Sep’17, imports of Pig iron to the nation remains in same quantity which was in Sep’16.
Further, In the first 9 months of CY17 (Jan-Sep), the data shows about 0.70 MnT Pig iron exports, decline by 17.64% against 0.85 MnT in the same preceding CY2016.
Country wise largest exporter
During September 2017, the largest exporter of Pig iron to Turkey was Russia- 110,000 MT & Ukraine at 30,000 MT.
Similarly, in the total Pig iron imports during 2017 (Jan-Sep’17), the major sellers of Pig iron to Turkey was – Russia (64.79%), Ukraine (21.44%), Germany (6.09%) & India (3.52%).
Quaterly Analysis
The recent SteelMint’s Statistics report showed imports of Pig iron during Q2 FY18 (Jul-Sept’17) at 0.32 MnT, surge by 77.77% Q-o-Q when it compared with Q1 FY18 (Apr-Jun’17) at 0.18 MnT. In line, on yearly premises the exports surge by 6.66% in Q2 FY18 against Q2 FY17 at 0.30 MnT.
Further it was also noticed on half yearly calculations the exports fell by 13.79% to 0.50 MnT in H1 FY18 compared with 0.58 MnT in H1 FY17.
