Steel Ministry Asks Coal Ministry to Allocate Captive Coal Blocks to RINL

In a bid to facilitate coal availability, the Steel Ministry has asked the Coal Ministry to allocate exclusive Thermal and Coking coal blocks to the state-run Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited (RINL) for meeting the additional requirement post expansion and modernization.

RINL’s coal requirement has gone up as it had doubled its capacity to 6.3 MnTPA. The state-run steel maker also is in the process of increasing its capacity to 7.3 MnTPA through modernization and up- gradation of its existing units. RINL plans to increase its overall capacity to 20 MnTPA.

RINL has been requesting for direct allocation of the Baitrani West Terminal, Talabira I & II, Choritand Tilaiya, Utkal A, Rampia and some other coal blocks in Odisha.
