Spot steam coal prices in Australia & South Africa fall
marginally on 16th March.
Australia's McCloskey Newcastle 6700 kc GAD Steam Coal FOB
price stands at $104.90/MT i.e. down by $ 1.05/MT.
Whereas, South Africa's Richards Bay 6000 kc NAR FOB price stands at $ 103.05 i.e down by $
0.80/MT
Indian companies sourcing coal from Australia may now have
to pay more as the Australian Government has passed a law to impose a 30% mining
tax on the companies.
However, according to Indian importers, “there may not be an
immediate hike in prices as the tax is applicable from July”.
