Demand for spot iron ore in China remained weak on subdued steel prices and limited buying interest.
"There are no buyers at $145 per ton for 63.5/63 Fe cargo more over big miners are holding their cargo in anticipation of higher prices." said an Indian exporter based in Orissa.
But prices might tick higher this week as Chinese steel mills replenish inventories ahead of the Lunar New Year in 4th week of January.
Australian Pilbara iron ore fines (61.5 Fe) were quoted at $139-$141 a tonne, C&F, and Newman fines (62 Fe) were offered at $141-$143.
