Sponge Iron industry hopeful to do better in a years time- Godawari Power  

India with an installed capacity of 35 mtpa was under utilized at 60 % in the year 2011-2012, according to sponge iron manufacturers association.

Future is bright for sponge manufacturers say Mr B.L. Agarwal, CMD Godawari Ispat Ltd in a conference held at Raipur, Chattisgarh.

Iron ore is the root cause for steel sector not performing well in India.He said there is an additional capacity of 7-8 million tonnes pellets lined up for merchant sale in 2013. This will reduce iron ore lumps prices in coming time and help sponge route iron making than blast furnace.
