South Korea: POSCO Cold Rolled Plate Sales Volume Remain Stable in Jan-Apr’18

South Korea based major mill – POSCO has recently released its sales figures for cold rolled plate for first four months of CY18 (Jan – April) .Sales volumes remained unchanged against corresponding time frame of previous year.

Company’s sales volume remain largely stable in first four months of CY18-According to the results company’s total sales volume (including domestic and exports ) from Jan-Apr stood at 4.76 MnT, stable against 4.75 MnT in Jan – Apr’17.

However on monthly basis company’s total sales volume witness decline of 3.8% in Apr’18 against previous month. In Apr’18 sales figures stood at 1.157 MnT which was 1.203 MnT in Mar’18. Although on yearly basis the same moved down by 2.5% against 1.18 MnT in Apr’17.

However sales of other products like Hot dipped galvanized steel sheets and Electro galvanized steel sheets increased significantly on yearly basis.

Company’s domestic sales volume rises marginally in Jan – Apr CY18-During first four months (Jan- Apr) of CY18 domestic sales volumes stood at 1.96 MnT up by 3.1% against 1.90 MnT in similar time period of CY17.

Company’s sales results reported that domestic sales inched up slightly on on monthly basis by 2.0% to 0.492 MnT in Apr’18 against 0.502 MnT in Mar’18. However on yearly basis the same moved up by 0.6% as compared to 0.489 MnT in Apr’17.

Company’s steel exports decline marginally in Jan-Apr CY18- In Jan-Apr’18 exports volumes summed up to 2.803 MnT, fell by 1.4% against 2.846 MnT in Jan-Apr’17.

However on monthly basis company’s export volumes decline by 5% to 0.665 MnT in Apr’18 against 0.701 in Mar’18.Although on yearly basis the same decline by 4.9% against 0.699 MnT in Apr’17.

Thus,POSCO majorly focuses on domestic market rather than on exports owing to global trade sanctions including United states.
