South Asia: Imported scrap prices up, Pakistan buyers active ahead of Eid

South Asia’s imported scrap prices moved up further. Active trade at increased prices in Pakistan was seen ahead of the Eid holidays. Meanwhile, Bangladesh and Indian buyers remained mostly quiet.

  • Around 3,000 t of UK-origin shredded is being traded at $460-465/t, CFR Qasim. A few more deals were heard to have concluded at $470/t CFR basis. SteelMint’s assessment of UK-origin shredded scrap stands at $465/t CFR Pakistan, an increase of $15/t from 1 July.
  • UK-origin shredded scrap price into Bangladesh stands at $480-485/t CFR, mostly unchanged.
  • Imported shredded scrap price into India stands at $460/t CFR Nhava Sheva, up by $5/t.
