South African RB1 (6000 NAR) coal prices rose to $158/t on 23 Nov’21, an increase of $11/t in a single day amid the sharp rise in natural gas prices in Europe and the USA. Rising winter demand, owing to the prevailing cold spell in China, and tight cargo availability from South Africa are supporting imported coal prices.
