South Africa: Unrest at KZN province to impact Transnet operations

Amid ongoing civil unrest in KwaZulu-Natal province of South Africa, operations at Transnet’s DBT and MPT (dry bulk and multi-purpose) terminals have been impacted due to manpower shortage. Several Transnet employees have been asked to return home. While loading is taking place at RBCT port, which happens to fall in the KZN province, Transent’s two rail lines stretching to Richards Bay port are shut due to sabotage, impacting coal movement to the port, market participants informed.
