With rising LNG prices in Europe, South African RB1 (6000 NAR) grade coal prices rose by $5/t, d-o-d, to $136/t on 18 Nov’21 after two successive weeks of decline. The rise in LNG prices comes on the back of supply concerns after Germany suspended the certification process of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline. South Africa is a key coal exporter to Europe.
