South Africa, one of the major exporter for pig iron has registered a decline in exports about 10,000 MT (20%) M-o-M in June’17.
According to the South Africa customs, the nation has exported about 40,000 MT pig iron during June’17 against 50,000 MT in May’17.
Coming to total exports in H1 CY2017 (Jan-June) it registered at 230,000 MT, surge by 43.75 % against 160,000 MT in the same period during 2016. On yearly calculation, the country exported around 310,000 MT in CY 2016 & at 430,000 MT in CY 2015.
Country wise:
During 2017(till June), the largest importer of South African originated pig iron was United States & Netherlands which imports about 70,000 MT & 30,000 MT, respectively.
Similarly, in the total pig iron exports during the first half of 2017 (Jan-Jun), the major buyers of South African Pig iron was – United States (30.96%), Netherlands (14.17%), Italy (9.53%) & Taiwan (6.20%).

2. South African RB2 (5500 NAR) coal offers are prevailing at USD 82-83/MT CNF India.
3. Presently, export offers of Fe 63/64 grade iron ore lumps are at USD 72/MT Main port, & Fe 64 lumps at USD 78/MT Richard Bay, FoB South Africa
