South Africa: Merafe’s ferro chrome production drops over 60% y-o-y in CY’25

Merafe, South Africa’s leading ferro chrome producer, reported CY’25 (Jan-Dec’25) output of 112,000 t from its Glencore joint venture, marking a sharp 63% y-o-y decline from 301,000 t in CY 2024. The significant drop was largely due to the suspension of operations at the venture’s smelters amid unfavorable market conditions.
