South Africa: Glencore’s ferro chrome production drops 16% y-o-y in H1CY’24

Glencore, a leading South African ferro chrome producer, saw a 16% y-o-y drop in H1CY’24 output from its own source to 599,000 t, down from 717,000 t in H1CY’23 due to the idle Rustenburg smelter, which they plan to restart once market conditions improve. However, output stayed stable q-o-q with a slight 2% increase to 302,000 t in Q2CY’24.
