South African Ferro Chrome exports have witnessed a rise of 7.7% Y-o-Y.
South Africa, the largest exporter as well as the second largest producer of Ferro Chrome in the world, has exported 3.9 MnT in 2016, as per South African Trade Customs. In 2015, the said country has exported 3.6 MnT of Ferro Chrome.
South African Ferro Chrome exports at 0.27 MnT in Dec’16 have witnessed a substantial downfall of 13% M-o-M. In Nov’16 the exports were at 0.32 MnT. In similar lines, the exports also have slipped by 4.05% against the same month of the previous year, at 0.29 MnT.
China’s Ferro Chrome import from South Africa at 1.59 MnT in 2016
China remains the largest consumer of South African Ferro Chrome. In 2016, China imported 1.59 MnT Ferro Chrome against 1.66 MnT in 2015.
In Dec’16, the country imported 0.94 MnT Ferro Chrome against 1.02 MnT in Nov’16. In Dec’15, the country has imported 1.04 MnT Ferro Chrome.
Most of the Ferro Chrome produced in South Africa is exported to the Far East (China, Japan, South Korea and Taiwan) since it is the epicenter of stainless steel production. Imports by Japan and South Korea rose substantially by 85.12% and 109.27% respectively on Y-o-Y basis.
